We have about 15 laying hen chickens right now of various breeds:  white & partridge rocks, rhode island reds, brahma’s, silver laced wyandottes & australorps & barred rocks. Some are very strong layers while others not so reliable. I got an assortment of breeds because I enjoy the variety of birds. The australorps & wyandottes are on the Recovering list at the American Livestock Breeds Conservancy. We are not very good chicken farmers so some of our chickens are getting up towards 9 years old & don’t lay very well any more. If they don’t bug us, they get to live out their natural lives here. They like the fact we aren’t very good chicken farmers!
