Christmas on the Farm
Christmas on the Farm at Hathaway’s is a great place to make some very special family memories. Our farm, which dates back to the mid 1800’s, is the perfect place for parents & grandparents to celebrate some real ‘ole fashioned Christmas fun with the kids!
When you are driving up the hill to the farm, you will notice our big, iconic New England barn with the date 1881 in slate on the roof. As you park & get out of your car, the Christmas music sets the tone for your visit. Then enter the Farm Shop where the pellet stove is cranking. The elves will get you checked in & help you get started with all the activities including making your own Christmas ornament to take home with you, learning how to string some popcorn & cranberries to decorate the farm’s Christmas trees with & you can even write a letter to Santa! Kids can visit “Elf Theatre” ( truly a kids farm theatre…..it used to be the hallway for a huge fan to dry hay in the haymow!) & watch a Christmas movie while waiting for siblings to finish up their ornament or their Santa letter.
MEET SANTA & his trusty “B Team”
Then you can head down the stairs to the Livestock Barn where you can actually MEET SANTA & his trusty “B Team” of reindeer (or maybe they are actually miniature donkeys who dream of pulling that sleigh up, up & away…..). If for any reason Santa’s A Team….Donner, Blitzen & that group…..can’t pull it off, then AMY, FANNY & HENRY are ready to fly!!! Be sure to say Hi to ALL the farm animals in the barn while you are there. They are all dressed up in their Christmas outfits to celebrate the season!
Outdoor FUN on the Farm
On your way out of the Farm Shop be sure to take a Christmas cookie & cup of hot cocoa with you for your Wagon Ride with BJ Elf. He will take you on about a 15 minute John Deere tractor drawn ride where you can sing Christmas carols as you enjoy the views & fresh mountain air. When you climb off the wagon go ahead & cross the road & take a few slides down the Toddler Hill. Feel free to bring your own sled or we have a few here you can use too. It’s a great little hill right in front of the farmhouse for toddlers to gain their first experience in snow sliding & kids a little older to show off their sliding skills. As long as it is cold enough, don’t worry about having enough natural snow because we have a new snow gun & will be able to MAKE it snow!! And don’t worry about the cold….you can always warm up at the fire pit when you get chilly!
